HVAC Air Distribution, Duct Cleaning and Disinfection Services

The cleanliness of air distribution systems is critical to the health, well-being and performance of employees, in addition to being an important issue with homeowners. For optimum system performance and acceptable indoor air quality, cooling and heating coils should be pressure-washed and disinfected at least twice a year, especially condensate drain pans. Dust buildup in ductwork can harbor mold, fungi and bacteria, which can be distributed to the occupied space and its occupants. EMTEQUE has the equipment and the trained field staff to clean air-handling equipment, wash coils, roto-brush, mechanically clean and disinfect HVAC ductwork and air distribution systems. AST/UST Cleaning, Registration, Testing, Closure and Removal

The contamination of soil and underground water from Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST's) and Underground Storage Tanks (UST's) is carefully regulated by federal and state agencies. For optimum performance, tanks should be cleaned periodically. Some municipalities, counties and states also require the periodic testing for tank tightness, depending on the size and nature of the system. EMTEQUE has the equipment, experience and trained manpower to perform this type work and has successfully completed dozens of petroleum storage tank projects, including spill closings. Where necessary, EMTEQUE has performed "in-place" tank closures, in addition to tank demolition, removal and replacement.

Regulated/Hazardous Waste Removal

EMTEQUE has been called upon to characterize waste for appropriate disposal in various commercial and industrial facilities. Drum and soil sampling and subsequent laboratory analysis has been performed by EMTEQUE personnel. Results of these sampling programs have provided our customers with appropriate "non-hazardous" and/or "hazardous" waste disposal with the necessary "manifests".

Domestic Water Tank Cleaning and Disinfection

New York City Building Code requires that domestic water tanks be cleaned and disinfected annually. EMTEQUE has the personnel, equipment and the experience to clean and disinfect all types of steel and wood tanks. Typically, these tanks are initially washed with a hypochlorite solution, rinsed and further chlorinated a second time. A "Certificate of Disinfection" is provided to the client upon satisfactory completion of this service.

EMTEQUE geotechnical engineers can manage a quick-response team to respond to any spill of petroleum, chemicals or other hazardous materials, working on short notice in a true 24/7 service environment. We can also do a site assessment when responding to the spill to determine the extent of the problem and if any further remediation steps will be required.

This includes the sampling of drinking water sources in commercial buildings and schools for the analysis of primary and secondary contaminants, as defined by the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). The remedial design services include evaluating various methods for filtration of these contaminants, including reverse osmosis, carbon filtration, etc.

Contaminated Soil and Groundwater Remediation

EMTEQUE geotechnical engineers have a wealth of experience in dealing with contaminated soil and groundwater remediation projects. We have been involved in the successful completion of these remediation activities with some of the New York Metro area's most high-profile projects. EMTEQUE professionals have successfully closed over a dozen open NYSDEC spill files in the past months and are currently working on others to add to this list. EMTEQUE can manage the excavation, transportation and proper disposal of soils either in a complete turnkey or a single stage process, as required. Our specialists also have experience in "groundwater polishing" and other forms of groundwater remediation, in addition to having an excellent relationship with the NYSDEC to expedite the closure process.

Indoor Firing Range Cleaning, Ventilation and Decommissioning

Law enforcement agencies, private gun clubs and the military all use indoor firing ranges. These indoor ranges can present health hazards in the form of lead poisoning, due to improper ventilation control and the high noise levels from poor acoustical treatment. EMTEQUE has provided several police departments and military facilities with ventilation and lead surveys and range cleaning services. In-house equipment available for these services are HEPA vacuums, personnel protective equipment, lead/brass waste disposal containers, etc.

PCB and Light Ballast Recycling

Lighting retrofits, construction demolition projects and old fluorescent bulb replacement can result in the necessity to dispose of PCB's and mercury. Even small quantity disposals can result in these wastes being handled as expensive hazardous waste. Recycling programs can be designed by EMTEQUE to reduce disposal costs and to minimize any future liability associated with these materials.
