BACKGROUND:
An old oil
spill was discovered on this site by EMTEQUE field engineers while performing
a routine asbestos survey. After a detailed site investigation, two 7,800-gallon
oil storage tanks were found in a vault area, in addition to the source
of the leak. EMTEQUE technicians pumped out over 4,000-gallons of free
product, entered and cleaned the USTs, performed a soil analysis from
around the tank bed area and then filled both USTs with concrete slurry
to close the tanks in accordance with NYSDEC guidelines. EMTEQUE then
produced a detailed Phase II report and successfully petitioned the NYSDEC
to close the spill file.
