BACKGROUND:
EMTEQUE Corporation was retained by
Arcadis Geraghty and Miller to perform a comprehensive asbestos survey
of the 5-city block PepsiCo site bordering the East River located in the
Long Island City section of Queens. This survey was required in order
to develop and assign a guaranteed cost for the environmental remediation
of this site, as a precursor to the planned demolition of the seven buildings
that were on the property, in preparation of the construction of a high-rise
residential tower. The PepsiCo site occupied approximately 900,000 square
feet of building space that was situated on 21- acres.
